myschools is delighted to be supporting a welcoming and forward‑thinking school in the local area that is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team from September on a general cover basis. In this role, you will take responsibility for covering classes during teacher absence, delivering pre‑planned lessons across the curriculum and ensuring continuity of learning. You will confidently manage the classroom, maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement, and adapt learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with additional or special educational needs. The successful HLTA will work closely with teaching staff and support teams, contribute to assessment and feedback, and provide targeted support to individuals and small groups where required. You will play an important role in creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.

• Contract type: FULL_TIME – Hours: 8:30 to 3:30

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be motivated  and confident working with pupils in a Primary and Secondary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will hold HLTA status or equivalent experience, with previous experience covering classes independently and a strong understanding of the primary or secondary curriculum. Experience supporting pupils with special educational needs and the confidence to adapt learning approaches will be highly valued. You will be available for a September start, able to commit to full school hours during term time, and be flexible to cover across year groups as needed. Due to the school’s location, access to your own transport is essential. You will be professional, resilient and positive, with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting young people to thrive.
