4myschools are working in partnership with a number of well‑regarded secondary schools in Swaffham and nearby rural communities who are looking to appoint dependable and proactive Supply Secondary Cover Supervisors. These schools offer structured learning environments, clear behaviour expectations and strong pastoral systems, enabling cover staff to work confidently and effectively. In this role, you will supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students engage with the pre‑set work provided by the absent teacher. You will maintain a positive and orderly classroom, reinforce school policies, support students with varying learning needs, and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed throughout the school day. Strong communication with teaching and pastoral staff is key, with clear feedback provided at the end of each assignment to support continuity of learning

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic  and comfortable working with pupils in a Secondary School setting.

We are looking for a candidate who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful applicant will have previous experience working in a secondary school setting, ideally as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor or similar education‑based role, or possess strong subject knowledge at secondary curriculum level. Experience supporting pupils with special educational needs or behavioural needs is highly valued. You will be confident managing classrooms, adaptable to different school environments and able to build rapport with young people quickly. Availability to work full school days (typically 8:15am–3:15pm) on an ad‑hoc, short‑term or longer‑term supply basis is essential. Due to the rural location of some schools in and around Swaffham, access to your own transport is highly desirable. This role is particularly well suited to experienced Cover Supervisors, graduates exploring a future career in teaching, or education professionals seeking flexible work within local secondary schools.
