Immediate opportunity! SEN Teacher – Complex Needs – Colchester
At 4myschools, we are working in partnership with a highly supportive and forward-thinking specialist school in Clacton that is seeking a passionate SEN Teacher to join their team on a temporary basis. This welcoming and inclusive setting caters for pupils aged 5–16 with moderate learning difficulties and a range of complex needs, where a strong emphasis is placed on nurturing each student’s individual potential. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering differentiated lessons across the curriculum, primarily supporting learners at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will adapt teaching approaches to meet a wide range of learning needs, create a positive and structured classroom environment, and monitor pupil progress to ensure continuous development. The role will also involve pastoral responsibilities, which may include acting as a form tutor, supporting students’ personal development and wellbeing, and contributing to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews. Building strong relationships with parents, carers and external professionals will be key to ensuring a holistic approach to each learner’s education. Working collaboratively with a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the ongoing development of best practice and share innovative ideas to enhance learning outcomes. Candidate profile
The ideal candidate should be committed and comfortable working with pupils in a SEN School setting.
We are looking for a candidate who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified teacher with experience working within a SEN setting, particularly with pupils with moderate learning difficulties and complex needs. You will be a calm, proactive and adaptable individual who is able to tailor learning effectively and respond positively to the varied needs of students. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team. A genuine passion for SEN education and a commitment to inclusive practice are key to success in this role. Candidates should be available for the full duration of this maternity cover position and have reliable transport to access the school location. Experience across either primary or secondary phases will be considered, alongside a willingness to contribute to the wider school community and take on additional responsibilities where required.
