New opening! SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary – Fakenham
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and helping them succeed both academically and personally? 4myschools are recruiting dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to work within secondary schools across Fakenham and the surrounding areas from November 2026. We have a variety of daily supply, short-term and long-term placements available, offering flexibility for those seeking varied school experiences alongside opportunities for more consistent and rewarding roles. As an SEN Teaching Assistant within a secondary setting, you will support students aged 11-16 and 11-18 with a range of additional needs, helping them access the curriculum, engage positively in school life and develop the skills and confidence needed to achieve their potential. You may support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech and language difficulties, dyslexia, moderate learning difficulties and other barriers to learning. Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, pastoral teams and safeguarding leads, you will provide both academic and emotional support throughout the school day. Your role may involve delivering one-to-one support within lessons, assisting small intervention groups, helping students understand and complete classwork, adapting learning resources and promoting independence. You will play a key role in encouraging participation, boosting self-esteem and helping students develop effective learning strategies across a range of subjects. A significant part of the position involves providing pastoral support to young people who may face social, emotional or behavioural challenges. You will help students manage their emotions, build positive relationships, develop resilience and maintain engagement with learning. This may include supporting students during less structured parts of the day, assisting with transition between lessons, helping to de-escalate situations when required, implementing behaviour support plans and acting as a trusted adult who can provide guidance and reassurance. Building strong professional relationships and creating a safe, supportive environment will be central to the success of the role. In long-term placements, you may become involved in monitoring student progress, contributing to support strategies, attending review meetings and working alongside external agencies to ensure students receive the support they need. Every day presents new opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people who require additional encouragement and support to thrive within education. Working hours are typically 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only.
