How much do teachers get paid

As of September 2024 the starting salary for a newly qualified teacher is £31,650. In Inner London the starting salary is more; at least £38,766. Additionally, Teachers receive annual pay rises through an independent pay review process, and many teachers also see greater uplifts by progressing up the pay scales.

How Much Does a Supply Teacher Get Paid

Daily supply work attracts a lower rate of pay than if you commit to a long-term assignment requiring more planning, marking and commitment. Supply pay-per-day rates are competitive and differ from school to school and area to area. With 4myschools we always try to negotiate the highest rate of pay we can for you with the school.

Once you have been to a school multiple times, 4myschools will try to negotiate a higher rate for you. Once you reach 12 weeks the school and 4myschools will be legally obliged to pay you the scale that the school would pay you if they employed you themselves in line with AWR.

If you take a long-term assignment, we will always negotiate a higher rate with our client schools.

When will I get my Supply Teacher Pay

Teaching agencies pay substitute teachers at different times, often monthly. However, 4myschools pays our supply teachers and support staff once a week every Friday.

Do Recruitment Agencies Take From My Pay

Teaching Agencies including 4myschools cannot deduct any amount from their candidates for employment services, because this would breach The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003.

Other agencies may ask you to choose to be employed by an umbrella company to reduce their employment costs. Umbrella companies are permitted to charge you for payroll costs and may pass on the employer NI to you, it’s a separate agreement you have with your selected umbrella company.

At 4myschools we do not use umbrella companies we run our own weekly payroll and there is no charge for payroll services.

Do Supply Teachers Get A  Pension?

4myschools is legally required to auto-enrol all eligible employees, we use The Peoples Pension.

Education supply agencies including 4myschools are not currently permitted to participate in The Teachers’ Pension Scheme. However, we continue to pursue this issue to secure equal access to the TPS for all teachers working in state-funded schools.
