New opportunity! SEMH Teaching Assistant – Great Yarmouth
Are you a resilient and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? At 4myschools, we are proud to be working with a range of inclusive and supportive secondary settings across the Great Yarmouth area, offering daily supply and long-term opportunities for the next academic year. These schools are committed to providing a structured, nurturing environment where pupils are supported to overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential both academically and personally. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 who require additional emotional and behavioural support. Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams, you will provide one-to-one and small group interventions, helping pupils to engage with their learning and manage their behaviours positively. Your responsibilities will include supporting lesson delivery, adapting classroom activities to meet diverse needs, implementing behaviour strategies and individual support plans, and helping to de-escalate challenging situations in a calm and professional manner. You will also support pupils’ social development, encourage positive relationships, and contribute to maintaining a safe, focused, and inclusive learning environment.

Candidate profile
The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic and capable working with pupils in a SEN School setting.
This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or within alternative provision, and a strong understanding of how to support secondary-aged students effectively. Experience supporting KS3 and KS4 learners or knowledge of the secondary curriculum is highly desirable. You will be calm, patient, and confident in managing behaviour, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young people, staff, and parents. A proactive and flexible approach is essential, as you may be working across different settings on a daily supply basis or in a more consistent long-term placement. A minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE Maths and English is required. Candidates must be available Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm during term time, and have access to reliable transport to travel to schools across the Great Yarmouth area.
