Cover Supervisor – Norwich Are you looking to gain valuable classroom experience while building a rewarding career in education? At 4myschools, we are recruiting enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across Norwich and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers, graduates, teaching assistants, sports coaches, tutors, youth workers, or those with strong subject knowledge who are looking to develop their skills in a school environment whilst making a positive impact on students’ learning. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher, ensuring pupils remain engaged, on task, and working towards their learning objectives. You will supervise classes across a variety of subjects, manage behaviour in line with school policies, support students with their learning where appropriate, and create a positive and productive classroom environment. No lesson planning is required, allowing you to focus on developing classroom management, communication, and leadership skills. This role provides a fantastic opportunity to experience different schools, year groups, and teaching styles while building the confidence and practical experience that teacher training providers value highly. Working as a Cover Supervisor offers a genuine chance to learn on the job. You’ll gain first-hand experience of secondary education, develop transferable skills, and build professional relationships within local schools. Many successful teachers begin their careers as Cover Supervisors, making this an ideal stepping stone into teaching, pastoral support, SEND roles, or wider educational careers.

• Contract type: TEMPORARY – Hours: 8:30-3:30
• Age groups: Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, Secondary School

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be proactive  and capable working with pupils in a Secondary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English and Maths and be confident working with young people. Experience within education is beneficial but not essential, and we welcome applications from graduates, tutors, sports coaches, youth workers, mentors, and those with relevant subject knowledge who are looking to transition into education. Strong communication skills, resilience, adaptability, and confidence leading groups are essential. Candidates should be available to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm during term time, on either a full-time or part-time basis. Due to the variety of schools across Norwich and the surrounding areas, access to a car is advantageous, however applicants who can travel reliably via public transport or bicycle are also encouraged to apply.
