New opportunity! Secondary Cover Supervisor – Norwich
Are you confident, adaptable and passionate about supporting young people in their education? Are you considering a career in teaching, looking to gain valuable classroom experience, or seeking a rewarding role within secondary education? We are currently recruiting enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work across a variety of secondary schools throughout Norwich, Hethersett, Wymondham, Aylsham, Long Stratton, Thorpe St Andrew, Taverham and the surrounding areas. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to work within a range of successful and welcoming secondary schools whilst enjoying the flexibility to choose assignments that suit your lifestyle and availability. Whether you are an aspiring teacher, a graduate, an experienced Cover Supervisor or someone with transferable skills gained through working with young people, we would love to hear from you. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in supporting schools by supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons, ensuring students remain focused on their work and maintaining a positive and productive learning environment. While you will not be required to plan lessons or assess student work, your ability to manage behaviour and encourage engagement will be essential in ensuring learning continues effectively throughout the school day. Norwich is home to a diverse range of secondary schools, academies and multi-academy trusts, each offering unique opportunities and experiences. From large city schools serving vibrant communities to smaller schools located on the outskirts of Norwich, every placement provides valuable insight into different educational settings and approaches to learning. No two days are ever the same, making this an ideal role for individuals who enjoy variety and new challenges. We work closely with a large network of schools throughout Norwich and Norfolk who rely on dependable and professional Cover Supervisors throughout the academic year. Opportunities are available on a day-to-day, short-term and long-term basis, providing flexibility for those seeking regular full-time work, part-time employment or occasional assignments around other commitments. Successful candidates will be comfortable leading a classroom, following lesson instructions left by teaching staff and ensuring students remain engaged and on task throughout the lesson. Strong communication skills, confidence, resilience and the ability to build positive relationships quickly are all key attributes that schools are seeking. You will act as a positive role model, promoting high standards of behaviour and helping to create an environment where students can learn successfully. This role is particularly popular with graduates considering a future career in teaching, individuals looking to gain experience before undertaking teacher training, experienced education professionals seeking flexible work and those with youth work, coaching, mentoring or classroom support backgrounds. It provides invaluable experience of classroom management and school life whilst allowing you to make a meaningful contribution to students’ education. Working across multiple schools will enable you to develop your confidence, strengthen your behaviour management skills and gain exposure to different school cultures, leadership styles and educational approaches. Many Cover Supervisors use the experience gained through supply work as a pathway into teacher training, teaching assistant roles or permanent positions within schools. We are looking for individuals who are reliable, professional and passionate about supporting students to achieve their potential. A positive attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to remain calm under pressure will help you succeed in this varied and rewarding position. The ability to adapt quickly, follow school procedures and establish credibility with students is essential. In return, you will benefit from competitive rates of pay, flexible working arrangements, access to a wide range of local secondary schools and ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant with extensive knowledge of the Norwich education market. We take pride in matching candidates with schools where they can thrive and build valuable professional experience. Working as a Cover Supervisor is about far more than supervising a classroom. It is an opportunity to inspire students, support local schools and gain valuable skills that can open the door to a wide range of future career opportunities within education. Every assignment offers the chance to make a positive impact while building your confidence and experience in a rewarding school-based role.
