New opportunity! Higher Learning Teaching Assistant – Norwich

4myschools are working in partnership with a small, nurturing and community-focused school on the outskirts of Norwich to recruit a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September. This is a full-time role, supporting across EYFS and Key Stage 1 in a setting that prides itself on its inclusive ethos, strong relationships and engaging, child-centred curriculum that enables all pupils to feel valued and supported in their learning journey. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the class teacher and wider school team, delivering high-quality learning experiences across phonics, maths and the wider curriculum. You will lead small group interventions, support whole-class teaching where required, and deliver planned lessons during PPA cover. A strong understanding of early reading and phonics (such as Little Wandle or similar schemes) will be essential, alongside confidence in supporting early maths skills in line with the KS1 curriculum. The role requires someone who is proactive, adaptable, and able to build strong relationships with both pupils and staff, supporting a positive and engaging learning environment. This position is initially offered on a temporary basis, with a clear pathway to a permanent contract for the right candidate who demonstrates commitment and impact within the role.

About the ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be committed  and comfortable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

We are looking for an experienced HLTA or an aspiring HLTA with a strong background as a Teaching Assistant within EYFS and/or Key Stage 1. You must hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE Maths and English, and hold or be working towards HLTA status (or be confident in delivering lessons independently and covering PPA time). Previous experience supporting phonics delivery and early maths is essential. You will be reliable, enthusiastic, and committed to working full-time from September, with a passion for supporting young learners in their early education. Due to the school’s location on the outskirts of Norwich, access to your own transport is highly desirable. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual looking to secure a long-term role with the potential to go permanent in a supportive and welcoming school environment.
