Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic  and comfortable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant with a strong background supporting pupils within primary school settings, including those educated in Specialist Resource Base (SRB) units or with additional SEND needs. You will hold a recognised HLTA qualification or have substantial equivalent experience, with the confidence to lead whole-class learning when required, deliver targeted interventions and provide consistent support for pupils with EHCPs, ASD, SEMH or complex learning needs. A sound understanding of inclusive practice, differentiation and positive behaviour strategies is essential, alongside the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff and external professionals. Due to the supply nature of the role, candidates must be flexible, reliable and available to work across Thetford and surrounding areas, with access to transport or the ability to travel between local schools. This role typically follows standard school hours (approximately 8:30am–3:30pm) and offers opportunities for both day-to-day and longer-term placements, making it ideal for professionals seeking variety while continuing to make a meaningful impact in SEND-focused environments.
