Current opening! KS1 Supply Teacher – St Albans

Are you a passionate and adaptable KS1 Teacher looking for flexible supply work in the St Albans area? At 4myschools, we are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary setting that prides itself on fostering a nurturing, child-centred environment where every pupil is encouraged to reach their full potential. The school is recognised for its strong community ethos, supportive leadership team and commitment to delivering a broad, engaging curriculum that promotes both academic achievement and personal development. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced teachers or confident ECTs who thrive in dynamic classroom settings and enjoy making an immediate positive impact. As a KS1 Supply Teacher, you will take responsibility for delivering high-quality lessons across Year 1 and Year 2 classes, ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of the regular class teacher. Your duties will include planning and delivering engaging lessons aligned with the Key Stage 1 curriculum (or following pre-set plans where provided), effectively managing classroom behaviour, and differentiating learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will be expected to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, assess pupil progress where required, and work collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider staff to support pupils both academically and socially. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will provide clear feedback to the school at the end of each assignment.

  • Contract duration: Supply Teacher
  • Contract type: TEMPORARY – Hours: 8:30 to 3:30
  • Age groups: Key Stage 1

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic  and comfortable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

We are looking for a candidate who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and have recent experience teaching within Key Stage 1. A secure understanding of the KS1 curriculum, phonics programmes, and early learning strategies is essential, alongside the ability to adapt quickly to new classroom environments. A minimum of Grade C/4 in GCSE Maths and English is required. You should be reliable, enthusiastic, and available to work Monday to Friday during term time (8:30am – 3:30pm), with a flexible approach to travel—access to your own transport is highly desirable to reach schools across St Albans and surrounding areas.
