The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be motivated  and capable working with pupils in a Primary & Secondary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will be a caring, patient and proactive Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You may already have experience working as an LSA within a primary or secondary school, including supporting pupils in mainstream classrooms or Specialist Resource Base (SRB) units, or you may be looking to transfer your skills from a related background such as health and social care, youth work, childcare, residential care, psychology or other people‑focused roles. Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs or EHCPs is highly valued, alongside a calm and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional regulation. You will be confident working one‑to‑one and with small groups, able to follow individual support plans and contribute positively to an inclusive learning environment. Due to the local nature of the roles, candidates should be flexible, reliable and able to travel to schools across Thetford and surrounding areas; access to transport or suitable local travel is therefore essential. These roles typically follow standard school hours and may be offered on a supply or longer‑term basis, making them ideal for both experienced education professionals and those seeking to begin or develop a career in SEND support within schools.
