New vacancy! 1:1 Learning Support Assistant – Norwich

4myschools are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant to support a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at a welcoming and inclusive school on the outskirts of Norwich. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in a child’s educational journey within a nurturing and forward-thinking setting that places a strong emphasis on personalised learning, wellbeing and creating a positive environment for all pupils to thrive. The role will begin as mornings only, finishing at 1:10pm, for the first few weeks to support a smooth transition for the pupil, with a view to progressing into full-time school hours. There is also a strong opportunity for the role to become permanent for the right candidate. In this role, you will work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil who follows a bespoke timetable, accessing a blend of learning both in the classroom and through alternative provision outside of it. The child presents with ASD but does not display any challenging behaviours, making this an ideal position for someone who is patient, understanding and confident in supporting additional needs in a calm and structured manner. Your responsibilities will include supporting the pupil’s engagement in lessons, adapting activities to meet their individual learning needs, encouraging communication and social interaction, and working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support in line with the EHCP. You will also assist in monitoring progress, maintaining accurate records and contributing to the wider support strategies implemented by the school.

  • Contract duration: Temporary (Long Term), Temp-to-Perm
  • Contract type: FULL_TIME – Hours: 08:40-3.10
  • Age groups: Primary School

About the ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be committed  and capable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful candidate will have experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or in a similar SEN-focused role, with a good understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and associated strategies. Candidates with relevant subject knowledge or experience supporting the primary or secondary curriculum (depending on setting) will be highly desirable. A minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE Maths and English is essential. You should be patient, adaptable, and able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff alike. Availability to commit to the initial morning hours, with flexibility to transition into full-time hours, is essential. Due to the school’s location on the outskirts of Norwich, access to your own transport is highly desirable. This role is initially offered on a temporary basis with the potential to become permanent for the right person who demonstrates commitment and a positive impact within the school.
