As a Primary Supply Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons across the primary age range, ensuring continuity of learning during staff absences. You will follow provided lesson plans while confidently adapting teaching strategies to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and varying learning abilities. The role involves maintaining a positive classroom environment, managing behaviour effectively in line with school policy, and fostering engagement through creative and interactive teaching methods. You will work collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider staff, provide feedback on pupil progress where required, and ensure that safeguarding and school policies are consistently upheld. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience across different year groups while enjoying the flexibility that supply teaching offers. Working hours are 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should be motivated  and confident working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and have recent experience teaching within a UK primary school setting. A strong understanding of the EYFS, KS1 or KS2 curriculum is essential, alongside the ability to deliver engaging lessons that inspire pupils of all abilities. Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, including those requiring differentiated learning approaches or additional pastoral support, will be highly advantageous. Applicants must hold a minimum of GCSE Grade 4/C in English and Maths. You will be reliable, flexible, and confident stepping into new classroom environments, with excellent behaviour management and communication skills. Due to the location of schools in and around St Albans, access to your own transport is desirable. This role can involve both short-term daily supply and longer-term placements depending on availability and school needs, making it ideal for teachers seeking a varied and rewarding workload.
