This role is offered on a temporary basis initially, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the classroom. Your duties will include working closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging lessons, providing one-to-one and small group support, assisting pupils with additional needs including SEND, helping to manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies, and contributing to the preparation of learning resources. You will also support pupils’ social and emotional development, encourage positive engagement, and help create an inclusive learning environment where all children can thrive. Flexibility and a proactive approach are essential, as you may work across different year groups depending on the needs of the school.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should be committed  and capable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of GCSE Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English and will ideally have previous experience working in a primary school setting or supporting children in an educational or care environment. Experience or knowledge of the primary curriculum and/or supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEND) would be highly advantageous. You will be a positive, patient and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and development. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, alongside the ability to build effective relationships with pupils, staff and parents. This is a full-time role, so a consistent Monday to Friday availability from 8:30am to 4:00pm is required. Due to location and travel requirements, access to your own transport is desirable. This position is offered on a temp-to-perm basis, providing an excellent pathway to a long-term opportunity within a well-regarded school.
