We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 1 pupil who is non-verbal and requires consistent SEND support. This rewarding role will involve supporting the pupil throughout their structured morning timetable, helping them access learning activities, follow routines, and feel safe and supported within the classroom environment. The successful candidate will provide consistent 1:1 support, adapting learning materials where needed, promoting communication through appropriate strategies, and working closely with the class teacher and SENCo. The role will also include supporting with intimate care, ensuring the child’s dignity and wellbeing are always prioritised. In addition, the role includes a 30-minute lunch duty, encouraging positive social interaction and engagement. Hours for this role are 8:30am – 12:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be committed  and confident working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

We are looking for an empathetic, patient, and reliable individual with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs. Previous experience working in a school environment, particularly within EYFS or KS1 and/or with SEND (including non-verbal communication needs), is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of strategies to support communication and behaviour, alongside a calm and nurturing approach. A minimum of GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths is essential. Due to the nature of the role and the morning start time, candidates should have reliable transport or be able to commute easily to the school. Consistency is key in this role, so strong attendance and a commitment to building a trusting relationship with the child are vital. This position is expected to be ongoing, providing stability for both the pupil and the school. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated LSA to make a real difference in a child’s early educational journey within a supportive and welcoming school.
