4myschools is delighted to be supporting a welcoming and values‑led specialist school that is opening a brand‑new SEND class in September 2026. The school is recruiting a team of six experienced SEND Learning Support Assistants to join a highly supportive and collaborative staff team. This newly developed class will support three school‑aged pupils with complex needs, including pupils who may present behaviours that challenge when triggered. As part of this role, you will work within a dedicated, well‑resourced setting, supporting pupils throughout the school day, implementing personalised strategies, and contributing to a calm, consistent and nurturing learning environment. Your responsibilities will include providing 2:1 support, assisting with emotional regulation, following behaviour support plans, working closely with teachers and therapists, and celebrating progress, as part of a child‑centred, trauma‑informed approach.
- Contract Duration: Permanent
- Contract Type: Full Time – Hours: 08:30- 4:30
- Age groups: Primary & Secondary School
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic and confident working with pupils in a SEN School setting.
This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant with a proven background in supporting children with complex needs and behaviours that challenge, and confidence in applying positive behaviour management strategies. You will be patient, resilient, reflective and proactive, with a strong understanding of sensory‑aware practice and strategies to minimise environmental triggers. Previous experience in a specialist or SEND setting is essential, along with a genuine commitment to inclusive education, safeguarding and teamwork. This is a permanent, term‑time‑only position, starting September 2026 (or sooner for the right candidate). Working hours are 8:30am–4:30pm on Monday’s, Tuesdays are extended to 5:00pm to allow for in‑house training and continuous professional development, Wednesday and Thursdays are 8:30am-4:00pm, and Fridays finishing earlier at 8:30am–3:45pm (ready for the weekend). Due to the rural location of the school and the absence of public transport links, candidates must be able to drive and have access to their own vehicle.
