New opening! Experienced SEND Learning Support Assistants – Specialist Provision within a Mainstream Primary School – Colchester

4myschools is delighted to be recruiting experienced SEND Learning Support Assistants for a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school with specialist classrooms in Essex. This setting is recognised for its strong values, nurturing ethos and commitment to meeting the needs of every child. The role focuses on supporting pupils with high levels of individual need, predominantly ASD, within specialist provisions that sit thoughtfully within the wider mainstream environment. You will work as part of a dedicated team of specialist SEND LSAs, supporting a small cohort of pupils with EHCPs, delivering highly individualised, holistic support that enables children to thrive both academically and emotionally. Day to day, you will provide structured and flexible support, implement personalised strategies, encourage communication and independence, support emotional regulation, and work closely with teachers, therapists and SEN professionals to ensure consistency and progress across the school day.

  • Contract duration: Temporary (Short Term)
  • Contract type: FULL_TIME – Hours: 8:30 – 3:30
  • Age groups: Primary School

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should be committed  and confident working with pupils in a SEN School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful applicant will have previous experience as a SEND LSA, particularly supporting pupils with ASD and complex needs, and will be confident working within a specialist or enhanced provision. A strong understanding of EHCPs, differentiated support strategies and a child-centred, holistic approach is essential. Experience within a primary school setting is highly desirable, alongside patience, resilience and a genuine passion for inclusive education. You will be available for full school days during term time, able to commit to ongoing work, and comfortable working collaboratively as part of a specialist SEND team. Due to the school’s location, reliable transport or the ability to travel independently is important. Relevant SEND training or qualifications would be advantageous, although proven hands-on experience is equally valued.
