This part-time role is based within a friendly primary school in Bury St Edmunds, supporting pupils in Key Stage 1. The school provides a structured and nurturing setting where younger learners are encouraged to develop confidence and curiosity in their early education. Staff work collaboratively, with a strong emphasis on consistency and shared routines to support pupil progress. As a part-time teacher, you will become part of an established KS1 team, contributing to a well-organised and supportive classroom environment.

• Contract duration: Temporary (Short Term)
• Contract type: PART_TIME – Hours: 8:30 – 3:30
• Age groups: Key Stage 1

About the ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic  and comfortable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will have a positive and engaging approach to teaching younger pupils, with the ability to create a calm and focused classroom atmosphere. You should be adaptable when working part-time, able to follow existing plans while maintaining continuity in learning. Strong interpersonal skills are important, as you will work closely with colleagues and build trust quickly with pupils. A patient and organised mindset will help you manage the day-to-day expectations of a KS1 classroom effectively.

What you’ll need to apply

Right to work in the UK. 
Relevant experience or qualifications in education or childcare (desirable). 
Dedication to safeguarding children. 
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required for this role. 
Experience teaching within Key Stage 1 is preferred. 
Confidence delivering phonics and early literacy lessons is beneficial.
