We are working with a welcoming primary school in the Bury St Edmunds area of Suffolk that is seeking a Year 5 Teacher to join their team on a part‑time basis (4 days per week). This role is initially required for half a term, covering a maternity leave, with the potential for extension depending on school needs.This is a supportive primary school that places a strong focus on consistency, pupil wellbeing, and maintaining positive routines across Key Stage 2. Staff work collaboratively to ensure smooth transitions for pupils and continuity of learning during periods of staff absence. The school values clear communication, effective classroom practice, and a calm, structured learning environment. This role will fit into an established Year 5 team, with planning and expectations aligned to the school’s existing curriculum approach.

About the ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be proactive  and confident working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

We are looking for a candidate who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful teacher will take This role would suit a confident and adaptable primary teacher who is comfortable stepping into an established class and quickly building positive relationships with pupils. You will have a calm, organised approach to behaviour management and be able to deliver lessons that keep Year 5 learners engaged and motivated. The school is looking for someone reliable, flexible, and able to work collaboratively with staff to maintain continuity for the class.responsibility for a Year 5 class, delivering engaging and purposeful lessons across the primary curriculum. The role involves maintaining classroom routines, assessing pupil progress, and ensuring learning continues seamlessly during the maternity cover period. You will be expected to work closely with colleagues to follow existing plans and contribute positively to the wider school day.
