Are you passionate about food and eager to inspire the next generation of chefs and food enthusiasts? We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join the Design Technology team at a reputable SEN School based in Harlow. This position is available from September 2023.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons to Key Stage 3- 5 students, focusing on Food Technology.
  • Develop and implement creative lesson plans and resources that align with the national curriculum and examination requirements.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to explore their culinary skills and develop a deeper understanding of food technology.
  • Utilize various teaching methods, including practical demonstrations, group activities, and multimedia resources, to cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Provide constructive feedback and assess students’ progress through assignments, projects, and examinations.
  • Support and guide students in their practical work, ensuring safety and adherence to hygiene standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the Food Technology curriculum, sharing best practices and innovative teaching ideas.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in food technology and incorporate relevant industry trends and advancements into lessons.

Requirements:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent certification in Food Technology or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching Food Technology.
  • Experience working with pupils with an EHCP plan
  • Thorough knowledge of the national curriculum for Food Technology, including relevant examination boards.
  • Passion for food and a solid understanding of cooking techniques, nutrition, food safety, and kitchen equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate students effectively.
  • Ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters students’ creativity and independence.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to plan and deliver lessons effectively.
  • Commitment to professional development and a willingness to stay updated with the latest trends and developments in the field.
