Our reputable education recruitment agency is currently seeking a dedicated 1:1 Year 5 Intervention Teaching Assistant with a focus on supporting students with ASD for a school located in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.

Role Overview:

As a 1:1 Year 5 Intervention Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a student in Year 5 diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Your role will involve providing personalised support and intervention strategies to help the student achieve their academic and social goals. Working under the guidance of the SENCO and class teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that meets the individual needs of the student.

Key Responsibilities:

– Provide 1:1 support to a Year 5 student with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
– Implement tailored intervention strategies to support the student’s learning and development.
– Assist the student with classwork, ensuring they understand tasks and instructions.
– Foster positive relationships and encourage social interaction with peers.
– Promote independence and self-confidence in the student’s academic and social skills.
– Collaborate effectively with the SENCO, class teacher, and other professionals involved in the student’s support network.
– Maintain accurate records of progress and report back to relevant members of SMT

Requirements:

– Previous experience working with children or young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder is highly desirable.
– Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs are advantageous.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
– Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
– Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the student and school environment.
