Position Overview:
As a Secondary SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a secondary school setting. You will work closely with teaching staff and SEN coordinators to provide tailored assistance to students, ensuring they have the support they need to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
– Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEN, including those with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
– Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
– Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and SEN coordinators to monitor student progress and address any concerns or challenges that arise.
– Utilize a variety of teaching and communication strategies to engage students and facilitate their learning experiences.
– Provide emotional and behavioural support to students, promoting positive relationships and conflict resolution skills.
Requirements:
– Previous experience working with students with SEN is highly desirable.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
– A patient and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
– Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing demands of the school environment.
– A genuine passion for education and a commitment to promoting the holistic development of all students.
Qualifications:
– Minimum of GCSE qualifications in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
– Relevant training or qualifications in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is advantageous but not essential.
