Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher for a long-term position at a reputable school in Ipswich, Suffolk. The successful candidate will have experience working with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and challenging behaviours. You will be responsible for teaching classes of 8 pupils aged 8-16, providing tailored support to meet individual needs and foster academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

– Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students with SEMH, SLCN, ADHD, ASD, and challenging behaviours.
– Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment conducive to the social, emotional, and academic development of all pupils.
– Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and assistive technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
– Collaborate effectively with support staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure coordinated support for students.
– Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions to promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
– Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching approaches accordingly.
– Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behaviour, and academic achievement.

Requirements:

– Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
– Proven experience working with students with SEMH, SLCN, ADHD, ASD, and challenging behaviours in a school setting.
– Strong understanding of relevant SEN legislation, policies, and best practices.
– Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
– Resilience, patience, and a compassionate approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
– Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to accommodate individual learning styles.
– Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).
