About the School:

Our client is a well-established SEN School committed to providing high-quality education and support to children with a variety of special educational needs. Situated in the picturesque town of Lowestoft, Suffolk, the school caters to pupils aged between 5 and 16 who may have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), disabilities, and/or other attachment disorders.

Job Description:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and wellbeing of students within the school. Your responsibilities may include:
– Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs, both in the classroom and during structured activities.
– Assisting class teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons, adapting materials and resources to meet the individual needs of students.
– Supporting students with personal care, mobility, and sensory needs, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
– Implementing behaviour management strategies and promoting positive social interactions and communication skills.
– Collaborating with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals to contribute to the development and implementation of RHCP’s

Requirements:

– Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, preferably within a school or educational setting.
– A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to supporting students with diverse learning and behavioural needs.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
– Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to adapt to the changing needs and demands of the school environment.
– Relevant qualifications or training in areas such as SEN, Childcare, or Education would be advantageous.
