The Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Learning Support Assistant to provide one-to-one support to a Year 3 student who experiences learning delays and exhibits some challenging behaviours, including instances of defiance. This full-time role based in a supportive primary school in Saxmundham offers the right candidate an opportunity to make a profound difference in a child’s educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
– Provide tailored one-to-one support to a Year 3 student, focusing on both academic and social development.
– Employ innovative strategies to engage the student, utilising their interests to redirect and maintain focus on learning activities.
– Implement ‘brain breaks’ and other adaptive techniques to manage and mitigate challenging behaviours.
– Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special educational needs coordinators (SENCO), and parents to develop and implement effective support plans.
– Monitor and record the student’s progress, adapting approaches as necessary to ensure educational goals are met.
About You:
– Experience in a support role within a primary educational setting, ideally with children who have special educational needs.
– Understanding of strategies for managing behaviours that challenge, and an ability to remain patient and resilient in the face of defiance.
– A proactive and creative approach to engaging children, with an ability to use interests and strengths as a basis for connection and learning.
– Strong communication skills, capable of effectively collaborating with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals.
– A commitment to inclusive education and a passion for making a difference in the lives of children.
– Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
