Contract Type: Permanent, 4/5 days per week

Salary: MPS6/UP1 (depending on experience)

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join our vibrant school community in St. Albans, Hertfordshire. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

– Coordinate the provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive appropriate support and resources to achieve their full potential.
– Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement EHCP’s
– Monitor and assess the progress of students with special educational needs, making adjustments to interventions and support strategies as necessary.
– Provide guidance and support to teaching staff on best practices for inclusive teaching and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
– Maintain accurate records of students’ progress, assessments, and interventions in compliance with statutory requirements and school policies.
– Stay abreast of developments in special educational needs provision, attending relevant training and professional development opportunities as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

– Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant experience working with students with special educational needs.
– A recognised qualification in Special Educational Needs Coordination (SENCo) or willingness to work towards achieving this qualification.
– Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation relating to special educational needs and disabilities.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
– Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a culture of inclusivity and high expectations for all students.
