Job Description:
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA), you will play a pivotal role in supporting classroom instruction and fostering a positive learning environment. Your responsibilities will include assisting teachers with lesson planning, conducting small group activities, providing one-on-one support to students, and aiding in classroom management tasks. GTAs often work closely with both teachers and students, offering valuable academic and emotional support throughout the learning process.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and empathy when working with students.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and staff.
- Previous experience working with children or in educational settings is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom activities.
- Provide individualized support to students who may require extra help.
- Supervise students during classroom activities and transitions.
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers to assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as required.
Teacher Training:
Many schools offer teacher training programs to support aspiring educators, including Graduate Teaching Assistants. These programs typically include a combination of classroom instruction, mentorship opportunities, and hands-on teaching experience. GTAs may be offered to be put through their qualifications whilst working. Meaning you will be gaining your QTS whilst still working and being able to earn.
