Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young children? Do you have experience or interest in supporting children with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive school located in the surrounding area of Chelmsford, Essex. This role has become available due to the current LSA relocating. This role would be supporting a child in Year 3 who has ASD and PDA. They are well settled and have good provisions in place, this will include a smooth handover from the current LSA, with the position starting from the 3rd of June. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to stay in September alongside the child as they transition into Year 4.
Key Responsibilities: 📋
Support a student with ASD and PDA in both classroom and one-to-one settings, ensuring their individual needs are met.
Collaborate with colleagues to implement and review educational healthcare plans (EHCPs), ensuring appropriate support is provided.
Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to the assessment process.
Support students with social and emotional challenges, providing guidance and encouragement as needed.
Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment, adhering to school policies and procedures at all times.
Adapt communication and engagement techniques to meet the child’s specific learning needs and delays.
Requirements: ✅
Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting.
Understanding of the challenges faced by children with ASD and SEMH needs.
Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach to supporting learning and behavioural challenges.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
A commitment to the values of inclusivity and support in educational settings.
