The role:

4myschools are recruiting SEN Learning Support Assistants to join a team of well established support staff in a growing SEN school in the King’s Lynn area. The school is an autistic based through school from EYFS – KS3 with hours of 8am – 4pm. The school are open to candidates from different career paths with transferable skills such as working with SEND adults, volunteer work as well as experienced staff seeking a new role.

4myschools have been working with schools across Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Herts since 2008, and have established strong connections in towns and villages across the county, meaning we can provide you with work in schools based locally to you! Most of the work our schools arrange with us is pre-booked supply and long-term cover (both full and part time, for anything from half a term to a whole academic year!). We do also work with our schools to organise ad-hoc cover because this allows you to utilise any short notice availability you may have.

SEN Learning Support Assistant Responsibilities:

-Support the class teacher by helping with classroom management
-Provide class-based support, supporting the child to engage in the learning activities
-Provide feedback to the class teacher, SENDCO and other professionals (where appropriate) on observations you’ve made about the children’s progress and any areas for development
-Acting as a role model

What the successfully appointed SEN Learning Support Assistant will have:

-Grade 4 (C) or above in both English and Maths at GCSE level
-Previous experience supporting children or adults with SEND or SEMH needs
-Knowledge of a variety of strategies to support the child’s additional needs, such as PECS, Makaton, and Visual timetables
-A valid, child workforce, Enhanced DBS (please note you can apply for this via 4myschools if you do not currently have this in place)
-A proactive and can-do attitude with willingness to work within a team
-A positive approach to classroom management helping create a positive learning environment
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-A holistic approach to supporting children’s development
-Committed to providing the best possible support to the children, teachers, schools and families you work with
-Right to work in the UK
