We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as SEN Learning Support Assistants.
Role Overview:
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of educational settings, including mainstream primary and secondary schools, as well as SEN schools. You will be responsible for supporting children on a 1:1 basis, helping them overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential. This is a rewarding role that requires empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Responsibilities:
-Provide 1:1 support to children with a range of SEND needs, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorders (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, speech and language difficulties, and emotional and behavioral difficulties (EBD).
-Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies tailored to each child’s specific needs.
-Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering independence and self-esteem.
-Collaborate with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other professionals to ensure the effective delivery of support and intervention programs.
-Monitor and track progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
-Teaching assistant qualifications are not necessary, although they are advantageous.
-Experience in a care background, performing arts, or a psychology background is desirable.
-Knowledge and understanding of different SEND needs and strategies to support children’s learning and development.
-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
-Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with children and young people.
