🌟 Unlock Your Potential: Opportunity Awaits! 🌟

4myschools are working with a College, looking for 1:1 LSAs to join their team to be sign-posted to a young person as their 1:1 Support Assistant.

This is an amazing opportunity to join a very supportive college, whose ethos is all about working to peoples strengths and they apply that to their students and workers. This is a truly rewarding job!

As the LSA, your role is to deliver and implement the work and learning activities that the students tutor has planned for them. In line with the college’s ethos, these activities are developed to the strengths and interests of the student and incorporate the successes of previous settings or strategies. This approach also means that there is a wide range of subjects the students can take, from cookery to scuba diving! The learning activities are developed after a consultation period with the student, to find out what they are interested in and, if there is a course that matches it, the college will facilitate it for them!

Rapport and a genuine interest in the person, your job and the learning is essential, as any insincere interests will not be conducive to building a rapport with the student. This is due to the Special Educational Needs of the individual and the hyper-fixation they can experience.

All positions are to work 6 hours a day, 3 days a week. Working days can vary from student to student and locations are local to them. You may be working together in public buildings, the community, the home, leisure activities, or Alternative Provisions (e.g. Forest Schools).

Requirements:

  • Essentials:
    • Access to a car
    • Car insurance – including business use
    • A genuine passion for supporting SEN/D (ASD, PMLD, SEMH)
    • Availability to commit to a whole academic year – continuity is very important to these students
  • Previous experience of providing learning support
  • Previous experience and understanding of supporting SEN/D and the challenges they face
  • A person-centred approach
  • Patience
  • Communication skills: both to implement the learning activities but also to communicate with your colleagues and provide feedback on your observations
  • An Enhanced, Child and Adult workforce DBS – that is on the Update Service

🎓 Professional Growth: Your journey with us includes opportunities for continuous professional development. Every day that you work with 4myschools, you earn CPD points that you can use with our CPD providers. These are used to continue your growth as an educator.
