Norfolk schools have the advantage of being in a large county with plenty of space but this also makes it tough to find teachers and in particular to recruit permanent teachers in specific subjects.
It is also difficult for many Norfolk schools to cover unforeseen illness or maternity/ paternity leave or CPD courses which is typically covered by supply teachers in most counties with relative ease, but is not so easy in Norfolk.
Norfolk County Council has a Supply Teaching Service with apparently 1,200 supply teachers registered which is very impressive in terms of numbers but all schools know it is about quality of supply teachers and the quality of the service the supply teacher agency provides to the school. How responsive are they, is the service always available and easy to access what about that Sunday night dreaded “I’m unwell” call, is there a good selection of teachers to choose from?
4myschools started to successfully provide supply teacher services to Norfolk school in 2014 with the open support of the Essex Secondary Headteachers association. Essex schools have benefitted from 4myschools supply teacher services since 2008 with more schools using supply teachers through 4myschools every year. The Essex schools are pleased to be able to support schools in other counties and have supported 4myschools in extending the service into Norfolk. The increasing use of the service by schools is simply down to the quality of the service and the fact that 4myschools go to great lengths to look after all teachers and all schools. We treat both supply teachers and schools as valued customers and do all we can to make sure you are impressed with the service we provide.
Part of the service being used by several Norfolk schools is the complimentary schools vacancies or teacher’s jobs board. Norfolk school are able to simply place their job adverts on the 4myschools jobs board with the schools specific profile, details, logo and contact details for applications to apply directly to the school. This has significantly increased the chance of teachers in Norfolk seeing the job vacancy and can increase the number of applicants who apply directly to the school. 4myschools will also go through the job specification to help to improve its social media search engine optimisation rankings, this helps the school and frankly it helps 4myschools too.
4myschools approach to the delivery of our supply teacher and recruitment services is to make sure everybody benefits which sounds demanding and yes it is, however, we know that by investing in building a quality driven proactive customer orientated service that gives back profit to support teaching and learning we are building a sustainable equitable service that benefits the schools, teachers and eventually the pupils that benefit from minimised disruption to their education.
Many Norfolk primary and secondary schools use the 4myschools service today and continue to ask for and refer good supply teachers. Some are using the schools jobs board too placing their adverts for candidates to apply directly to the school which is working well as it does in each of the other counties 4myschools supports.
4myschools are keen to attract more good supply teachers from the Norfolk County Supply Teaching Service database so we can offer you work and for those in suitable locations we are able to offer work in Suffolk too. For teachers close to the border between Norfolk and Suffolk or indeed across both counties we would be delighted to speak with you and to guide you through the easy registration process.
4myschools will come to you, so it’s is a great time to register if you are on the Norfolk county supply teaching service as we are likely to be able to find you assignments that suit you.
